Arm Length
Arm length: Perfection down to the base of the thumb. Whether for long or short sleeves, the correct arm length is crucial for aesthetics. A perfectly measured arm prevents fabric bunching or sleeves that are too short when you stretch.
- Long Sleeve: From the shoulder point, along the slightly bent arm, to the root of the thumb.
- Short Sleeve: From the shoulder point to the middle of the upper arm.
- Important: Measure both arms individually.
Place the tape measure at the shoulder point. Guide it along the outside of the arm, over the elbow, down to the wrist bone. For short sleeve shirts, stop about halfway to the elbow.
Important Note:
This guide is for determining your individual anatomical measurements (body measurements). These values are not identical to the measurements of a finished shirt, as a tailor adds a comfort allowance depending on the desired fit (e.g., Slim Fit or Comfort Fit).
Preparation:
Ideally, measure in light underwear or on bare skin. Stand relaxed and upright. A second person for support significantly increases accuracy, especially for back and arm length.
