Waist Circumference
Waist circumference: Defining your silhouette. The waist is the point where the fit (e.g. Slim Fit) is decided. A precise measurement prevents the unflattering "tent effect" and ensures a sporty line.
- Position: Measure at the height of the belly button (narrowest part).
- Condition: Relax abdominal muscles, do not suck in.
- Important: Ensure the tape measure runs horizontally.
Place the tape measure horizontally around your waist, usually directly above the belly button. This is the narrowest part of the torso for most men. Ensure that you breathe normally and do not reflexively pull in your stomach.
Important Note:
This guide is for determining your individual anatomical measurements (body measurements). These values are not identical to the measurements of a finished shirt, as a tailor adds a comfort allowance depending on the desired fit (e.g., Slim Fit or Comfort Fit).
Preparation:
Ideally, measure in light underwear or on bare skin. Stand relaxed and upright. A second person for support significantly increases accuracy.
